To:

Mr. Sid Ganis, President
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
8949 Wilshire Boulevard
Beverly Hills, California 90211

Dear Mr. Ganis,

I am deeply outraged over the Academy’s nomination of Brokeback Mountain for best picture.

I have always thought the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was about the business of honoring outstanding achievement in the motion picture industry. Following the nomination of Brokeback Mountain, I see that I was wrong.

The Academy’s nomination of this film has little to do with honoring great moviemaking. Instead, it is just a high-profile attempt to mainstream the homosexual agenda. That this movie uses the classic symbol of the American male - the cowboy - to promote this agenda is offensive to the vast majority of Americans.
I was in a movie theatre to view The Chronicles of Narnia when a preview of Brokeback Mountain was displayed. You could hear the sighs of disgust ripple through the theatre.

The fact that you would allow the Academy to be used in such a blatant and obvious way is particularly disturbing. Your agenda is even more obvious when considering that movies like The Chronicles of Narnia, that have themes that resonate with most Americans, are virtually ignored by the Academy.

Again, I am deeply troubled that you would allow the Academy to be tarnished in such a way, and would hope that in the future you would consider honoring only those movies that are truly worthy of honoring.

Regrettably,

(your name)
